Today is my 38 week mark. Time is still flying by, but like I said before, physically--I'm done. I'm ready to get this little dude out and have some more room in my body! Not a whole ton has happened since I posted last.
He is still continuing to get the hiccups on a regular basis--almost daily. His movements have also shifted from kicking jabs to more stretching. I can tell he doesn't have a lot of room to move anymore because he is stretching to find any extra space to move. He loves to stretch into my ribs, and onto my sides. I understand now how sometimes it can be painful, but even though it is uncomfortable at times, any movement is still reassuring.
We FINALLY ordered his car seat and stroller online sometime near the end of 35 weeks. We got the Chicco KeyFit 30 car seat and stroller combination. We were shocked when it came in the mail 2.5 days later! What great service. Last week, we got it out of the box, and set it all up so it's ready to go whenever! We may not have everything prepared yet, but he will at least have a car seat to go home from the hospital in.
We also went to Kohls to use some Kohls cash my mom gave us, and a gift card I received from my baby shower. We ended up getting him a couple of outfits including this little gem:
We both LOVE the 4th of July. It's my very favorite holiday so when Scott found this, we both knew we had to get it for him :) Hopefully he won't come too late so that he can wear it a couple of times.
At 36 weeks, when we went to our doctor appointment, we were expecting them to check me to see where I was at, and to do the Group B Strep test. Well, they decided to wait another week because I have been showing no signs whatsoever of early labor. I was kind of bummed that they didn't check me. I just wanted to see if I was progressing at all...
At the beginning of my 37th week, we decided that I would start doing everything I could do to start working towards getting this little man out. I have been working a lot, walking a lot, and basically anything else you've heard--we have tried. I don't know how much of the stuff we are doing helps, but I feel reassured knowing that there is not much more that I can do to go into labor.

This is basically my wardrobe now-a-days. Basketball shorts. |
Scott couldn't go to my 37-week appointment with me because he had to go take a test that is required for work. He has been working so hard to get it over with, and it hasn't been very fun for him to say the least. He passed with flying colors though and he is beyond happy to be able to get that over with and out of the way. At my appointment, they checked me and I ended up being 1 cm dilated and only about 60% effaced. I think they said I was a -2 station, but I can't remember. Either way, I am not doing anything drastic yet.
Chelsea and Cody came up on the weekend, and Chel was nice enough to take some maternity photos for us. Everyone loves to see themselves looking all awesome at nearly 38 weeks pregnant, right? ...Not. But I figured it was a good idea just to have them.
Today is week 38. Overall, I am feeling pretty good. I went for about a 3 mile walk this morning, and overall still feeling pretty good. This past week I have started swelling in my ankles and sometimes in my fingers. Mostly my feet and ankles. I'm not sure if it's due to the pregnancy, or the weather getting warmer, or both. But either way it's getting pretty uncomfortable. And I'm feeling less pretty by the day. But that's just silly stuff I guess. Who really feels pretty at 38 weeks pregnant? Scott is always really sweet and reassures me that I am great. He's the best.
Great news--We may have picked a name for our little man! There is a name that we both really like, but we are hesitant to say that it is for sure his name until we finish our baby book. I know it's kind of silly, but we just want to make sure. We are keeping his name a surprise until we decide on what it is because we don't really want to know everyone's opinions. Especially if they don't like it. We both really like a couple names, but one sticks out to us more than any others. We will see what happens...
I go into the doctor's office in a couple days, and hopefully they will give me some good news that my body is progressing in my labor process. We shall see!
I LOVE your cute little growing belly!!! Can't wait to meet this little guy!!
