...Always an Aggie. Even though Scott and I are now students at the University of Utah, I can't help but still love and take pride in Utah State University. The education I received while getting my Bachelor's Degree has helped me out immensely in my Master's program. The camaraderie shared with friends and fellow classmates is something I will always hold dear. Last week was homecoming week at Utah State. Thankfully, Scott had Saturday off so we were able to go up to Logan and go to the homecoming game. It was definitely a day that went by too fast. We had a great time despite the fact that we lost the big game to Colorado State...
We slept at Scott's mom's house Friday night and stayed up too late chatting with her. It was definitely worth it. Then, the next morning, we started off by going to the parade in good old Logan. It was a fun morning filled with more of the small-town vibe that I simply love and miss about the town we grew up in. We then had a nice afternoon with my family. We had lunch, hung out with my parents and Chelsea, and then watched my adorable nephew. He is so much fun and I definitely miss being around him so much.
Then we went to the game. It was so great to be back in the stadium where I have made so many memories. My great parents even bought Scott and I Utah State game day shirts so we could have something "Aggie" to wear to the game! We sat by my parents and Cody and Chelsea, and we were also able to meet up with Scott's Dad and brother Kendall. It was so great to be able to watch the game together!
After the game, we were able to meet up with our friends, Dustin and Katie, and Mallory and Paul. We went and grabbed some italian ice from Zeppe's. We hadn't seen them since before we got married so it was fun to catch up! Our visit was definitely too short, but it was worth it. We had a lot of fun!
We live in Salt Lake, we go to the University of Utah, and we are now "Utes." I am embracing that now, and trying to be excited about the schooling I am in now. I just think that years spent getting your undergraduate degree are filled with activities, friends, social events, etc. Graduate school is much different for me because I am much more focused than I ever was while I was getting my Bachelor's degree. It is crazy how "grown up" I am getting :) I guess what I am trying to say is that I am glad that I had such a wonderful time at Utah State, and I look forward to becoming excited about being a "UTE." But, it will take time to bleed red instead of "blue." We'll see if it happens in the year that I am at school.
We are definitely looking forward to this next weekend-- Not only is it general conference, but Scott's Dad and Stepmom Andrea are coming down and we are going to a couple football games! Friday: Utah State vs BYU. Saturday: Utah's homecoming game where they will be playing Washington. It will be fun to spend the weekend with them--I can't wait!
Now, for more important business. We have a new addition to our family...
We call him Sylvester--Don't ask me why, it was Scott's doing! Sylvester is great--It is a 40 inch LCD HD tv and something else I can't really remember without Scott. Although Sylvester is very fun to have, he is a very big distraction for us because when we get home from work and school, we just want to snuggle up on the couch and watch a movie instead of do our homework. Hopefully the excitement will wear off soon, yikes!
Go Dawgs :)
ReplyDeleteOnce an Aggie always an Aggie and I couldn't agree more! This is so true - so much so that you will skype the entire football game from your parents in Utah all the way to Connecticut just to be able to cheer them on! :) Hope they can pull out a "W" this weekend!
ReplyDeleteAs a graduate of the UofU with my own graduate degree (four years there), I can proudly say I have no red in my blood! Once you bleed the true blue, you never go back! Go Aggies!
