Scott and Heidi: Austin Children's Museum/Playing Outside in the Texas Heat

We were excited to go somewhere as a family since we were all reunited again. So the weekend that we got home, we went on a quick, last minute day trip to Austin. We heard there was a neat children's museum there and we wanted to check it out.

We got there and it turned out that Google was there with their brand new Google Car, and they were paying for everyone's admission, so we go in for free! Score! Scott loved checking out the Google Car, and everything they brought with them. We had a lot of fun at the children's museum--it wasn't too overwhelming and we feel like Kaiser got to check out everything that he wanted. We had a great time.

We then drove around Austin and saw some of the neat master planned communities that Scott has been studying in school. It was fun to be able to see all of it. I love Austin and everything that the city has to offer. It's a fun city!

We wanted to find some yummy restaurant to eat at that was kind of a hole in the wall. So we searched and searched and after a long while, we found the place. We went to Licha's Cantina. MMM-MMM good. It was fabulous! We had such a great time!

The next couple of weeks were spent enduring the humid heat of Texas in the summer. We got out quite a bit in the mornings, but by noon everything was way too hot to play on or with. So we found a lot of things to do inside. But we spent a lot of time at the pool and at the splash pad. Towards the end of August, everyone started coming home from their summer breaks so we got to play with all of our friends again, which we were all so happy about!
